My late cat Mr. Tuvok14:30 Sep 18 2006

I remember the first time we (my ex and me) brought him home many years ago. We tried to think of names that would suit him and it took a few days, but after many thoughts, I came up with the perfect name. My ex thot of calling him Worf, like the Klingon on "Star Trek: The Next Generation", but I didn't think it fit our new cat. I am a fan of the TV series "Star Trek: Voyager" and on this show was a character who had dark skin and pointed ears, played by the actor Tim Russ. I looked at my ex and said: "He's black and has pointed ears, just like the character on TV, why don't we name him that... And so it was done, we named him TUVOK. My ex called him Tuvi for short and he's been a wonderful cat ever since. He's was one of the most gentle cats, always coming over to greet me when I came home... he was always happy to see me. It's too bad Tuvok had a short life, but I guess it was his time. From the way we found him, we could tell he died in his sleep, so it wasn't painful for him at all.
He is now burried under a rock marked with his name in our front yard. *sniff* I love uou Tuvok, I will miss you the most my beloved son.
Based on the Data's poem for his cat Spot on the show "Star Trek: The Next Generation" found in the episode "Schisms", I have renamed the poem for my Tuvok... here it is:
Ode To Tuvok
Felis Cattus,
is your taxonomic nomenclature,
an endothermic quadruped
carnivorous by nature?
Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses
contribute to your hunting skills,
and natural defenses.
I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
a singular development
of cat communications
that obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
for a rhythmic stroking of your fur,
to demonstrate affection.
A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
you would not be so agile
if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aide in locomotion,
it often serves to illustrate
the state of your emotion.
O Tuvok,
the complex levels of behaviour you display
connote a fairly well-developed
cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient,
Tuvok,
and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you...
a true and valued friend.
